Design II Hat Project

In my Design II class, we had to make autobiographical hats, or hats that described things about us. Everything we had to use for our hats had to be metaphorical and not typically used to make hats. With my hat, my teacher wanted me to focus on the fact that I’m shy and that I blush all the time. With that in mind, I picked out a pink table cover to have the color represent my blushing. I made the structure out of pipe cleaners and folded different sizes of fans to cover the whole hat. I picked fans because you use them to cover your face. I hope you all know what fans I’m talking about! The ones a lot of you probably made in elementary school where you fold them back and forth and staple the bottom together. Anyway, here is my hat! I’m pretty happy with it. It took me forever to come up with this idea. Everyone in class said my hat was the only hat out of everyone’s that could actually be sold. I don’t know about that! Someone may buy it to go to a British wedding.

Flash Video Assignment

In Web Based Software we were assigned to make a simple video in Flash Professional CS5, post it to YouTube and then post it on our blogs. Here's mine! It's pretty goofy.

-Big Sigh of Relief!-

The past two and a half weeks I've been working on a project for Design II and I finally finished it last night! I feel so relieved. We all had to bring a small object in to class and the object I brought was a little glass owl I own. We then had to recreated our objects and make them out of balsa wood. We brought our projects in today and critiqued them in our groups and mine got voted best in the group! This project was so stressful- I had to hardest time getting glue to hold and making sure things didn't break as I was putting the project together. I'm proud of what I've done but I'm so glad it's over! I'll make sure to post pictures when our projects get returned to us later.

New Photos

Last Wednesday I was in the mood to go out and take some pictures, so I took my friends Kodi and Trevor out to Lakeside Park and the alleyways of downtown Pittsburg to try and catch some neat shots. Here are a few photos I got out of that day. If you click on my Flickr photostream towards the top of this blog you can see the rest. Hope you like them!

Sunset Website

Here's one of the latest sites we were assigned. We could make it about anything we wanted, as long as it contained three pages and they all linked to each other. I have taken a ton of pictures of sunsets, so I decided to use them for this site. I also included information about how sunsets occur using Wikipedia. I had a lot of fun with this project, because I liked the freedom of creating whatever I wanted in Dreamweaver and I liked deciding how everything would look on my own. It's a simple site but I still like it!

Final Project Site Map

We're starting to think about our final website projects, and I think I'm going to do another portfolio site. I did one of my first sites in this class as a portfolio one, but this time I'm going to lay everything out myself and go more in depth as to what I have create. This is a screen shot of my proposed site map. I'm excited to get this one started!

Random Elements Assignment

In my Web Based Software class, we were told to download the free photos that iStock was offering at the time. With each picture we had to make up content and links to go with it using Dreamweaver. Here's a screen shot of my Ragin' Cajun "website" using the free hot pepper photo. The page looks very simple, but the main idea of it was to practice the basics of what we've learned so far in class.

Personal Homepage Assignment

In my Web Based Software class, one of our assignments was to create a homepage in Dreamweaver that linked to all of the pages we've created so far in class. Here's a screen shot of the homepage, and to the right you can see all of the pages that the homepage links to. Design was not as important as practicing linking and setting up the pages correctly.
